Tanzania: Kubenea Attackers 'Were to Get Sh2 Million'

People charged with assaulting the editor of a weekly tabloid and a fellow journalist were promised to be paid Sh2 million by an employee of Bakhresa Company, a Dar es Salaam court heard yesterday.

Prosecution witness Sergeant David told Resident Magistrate Addy Lyamuya during cross examination at the Kisutu Resident Magistrate's Court that according to the first accused, Alex Mwandembele, the attackers were told that the assault was meant to 'MwanaHalisi managing editor Saed Kubenea a lesson.
