Nigeria: Delegates Arrive Minna for Noc Agm

30 April 2008

Lagos — The Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) will hold tomorrow in Minna, Niger State. Nigeria's preparations for this summer Olympic in Beijing, China is expected to top the agenda.

According to Tony Nezianya, public relation officer of the NOC, the AGM, which is a combined one for 2006 and 2007, is to be also used to review Nigeria's participation in global competitions in the last three years. "Because we did not hold the AGM in 2006, this edition is going to be a combined one to also review our activities in the last two years," observed the NOC spokesman. Nigeria's outing at the last All Africa Games, as well as participation at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games are some of the items under review. Also, reasons are going to be proffered to why Nigeria's bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games failed.
