The campaign against HIV/AIDS, Violence Against Women and Small Arms will continue tomorrow in Gbarnga, Bong County with a street parade and a whole day jamboree.

The Executive Director for the Liberia Crusaders for Peace, Amb. Juli Endee said on Tuesday that the HIV/AIDS awareness campaign will include door-to-door sensitization and workshops on the danger of HIV/AIDS.

She said the HIV/AIDS campaign is expected to bring together over 10,000 participants especially women organizations, students, marketers and peer educators from Nimba, Lofa and the host, Bong County.

The Liberian Culture Ambassador said the aim of the campaign is to sensitize the rural population on the danger of AIDS and that HIV/AIDS does exist in Liberia with no cure yet, but it can be prevented. She said over 25 Gospel and Secular musical artists and 2 banks will participate in the Gbarnga HIV/AIDS Campaign.

The workshop will also focus on HIV/AIDS stigma, discrimination against HIV/AIDS carriers and the importance of the use of condoms.

Amb. Endee said the HIV/AIDS musical festival is being conducted on a regional basis with Bong, Nimba and Lofa Counties in the second phase, while the third phase of the campaign will be held in Grand Gedeh, bringing together citizens from the south eastern counties.

The Crusaders for Peace Executive Director said women and children have for long been the worst victims of HIV/AIDS and sexual exploitation, noting that it is the responsibility of all Liberians to ensure that the nation is safe from HIV/AIDS and sexual exploitation.

The campaign is conducted by the Crusaders for Peace in-collaboration with the National AIDS-STI Control Program (NACP), UNDP/Global Funds and Lone Star Communications.
