The Namibia Chess Federation (NCF) is hosting the third Namibian - Icelandic International Chess Tournament from May 1 to 5 in Windhoek.

The venue is the Wartburg Room at the Thuringerhof Hotel in Independence Avenue.

Registration is from April 28 to 30 at the NCF office, Room 104, First Floor, BP House, Independence Avenue, from 09h00 to 12h00 and 14h00.

Entry and membership forms can be downloaded from the NCF website: www.namibianchessfederation.com.

Registration Fees Section A :rating 1600-2999 - N$70 plus N$50 deposit Section B:rating 1300-1599 - N$ 50 plus N$40 deposit Section C:rating 900-1299 N20 plus N$20 deposit Deposits are refundable at prize-giving on condition that all your games have been played The welcome and official opening takes place at 08h45 on May 1.

Round 1 : Thursday May 1: 09h00-14h00 Round 2 : Thursday May 1: 15h00-20h00 Round 3 : Friday May 2: 18h00-23h00 Round 4: Saturday May 3: 09h00-14h00 Round 5: Saturday May 3: 15h00-20h00 Round 6: Sunday May 4: 15h00-20h00 Round 7: Monday May 5: 09h00-14h00 Round 8: Monday May 5: 15h00-20h00 The prize-giving takes places on Monday, May 5 at 21h00.

The system and rate of play for the championship will be a Swiss system tournament played over eight rounds.

Rate of play will be 1 hour 30 minutes plus 30seconds increment for every move starting from move 1.

Swiss Perfect will be used for the pairings.

Please note that the breaks between rounds will be used to do the pairings according to the Swiss System.

Tie Break, Direct Encounter, Progressive Score and Median Bucholz will be applied.

If players are still tied then a 1 game of 5 minutes Armageddon will break the tie.

A player who does not have a national rating will receive a rating based on his/her performance against rated players.

All chess players are welcome.

Young, old, Grandmaster, beginners etc.

The Icelandic International Development Agency (Iceida) has sponsored the prizes which total N$18 000.

They are: Section A - 1st N$2 000; 2nd N$1 200; 3rd N$800 Section B - 1st N$1 000; 2nd N$600; 3rd N$400 Section C - 1st N$600; 2nd N$400; N$250 Lucky prizes: N$ 1000.
