Angola: Historic Figures Commission Assesses Condition of Monuments

Members of the commission for evaluation of national historic figures are travelling Wednesday for southern Cunene province to evaluate the conditions of monuments and historic sites in the region.

According to a note from the Ministry of Culture that reached Angop Wednesday, the delegation that includes the director of the National Institute of Cultural Patrimony, Xavier Yambo, the director of the Angola Historic Archive, Rosa Cruz e Silva, and other specialists of the sector.

While in Cunene, the officials will discuss with the local authorities issues related to the project of expansion of the Rei Mandume Memorial and the possibility of construction of a Bibliographic Museum.

During their four-day trip, the delegation will tour the districts of Namakunde, Kwanyama and Ombandja, where they will also learn about the state of the classified monuments and those to classify in the region, related to the history of the resistance to colonial occupation.
