Angola: Football - CAF Inspectors Proceed Activities

Luanda — The team of the Confederation of African (CAF), in Luanda since Monday, proceeds this Wednesday their inspection mission intended to assess the fulfilment rate of tasks concerning the holding of the 2010 African Cup of Nations (CAN), which Angola will host.

Led by the co-ordinator of CAN-2010, Mohamed Raouraoua, the team are to start their activity at "22 de Junho" soccer stadium, located at Rocha Pinto ward, Samba district, and will later travel to Viana locality, 20 kilometres from the city centre, where they will assess the conditions of the area where a stadium for the same competition will also be built.

Visits to the facilities of the Public Television of Angola (TPA), Angola-Telecom and some health units of the capital city in order to, among other goals, assess the availabilities to assist on the television transmission, are also part of the agenda.

On the first day of work, the inspectors met with CAN's organising commission, which represented by its director general, Justino Fernandes, made a general evaluation of tasks already implemented and those underway.

The CAF inspectors will visit in May the northern Cabinda province, followed by Lubango and Benguela, since these will also host CAN matches.

The vice president of CAF and president of the South African Football Confederation, Molefi Oliphant, as well as members of CAF's Executive Commission, Saketu Patel and Aime Moses are part of the delegation that will end they visit to Angola on May 05.
