Luanda — The winners of the National Journalism Award in the categories of print, photo-journalism, radio and television, will be announced Wednesday night in Luanda.
The announcement will take place at a gala hosted by the Social Communication Ministry.
21 professionals from various State and private media organs are competing, after they submitted their works to a jury headed by MP and senior journalism, Adelino de Almeida.
The prize is estimated at the equivalent to Usd 30,000 for each category.
Among the contesting candidates are journalists from State-run Televisão Pública de Angola (TPA), Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), Luanda Antena Comercial (LAC), Jornal de Angola (JA) and privately owned weekly, Angolense.
The jury includes the secretary general of the Angolan Journalism Trade Union, Luísa Rogério, the journalist and university teacher, Ismael Mateus, the secretary general of the Angolan Writers Association, Adriano Botelho de Vasconcelos, and the director of the Office of Documentation and Divulging of the Social Communication Ministry.
With the launch of the National Journalism Award, the Government that also approved the concerned regulation that guides the modalities and journalistic categories, intended to participate in the valorisation of the class and provide for a major specialisation in the domains of print, broadcasting and photo-journalism.
