Angola: SADC Defence, Security Organs to Meet in Luanda

The ministerial meeting of the political, defence and security organs of cooperation of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) will take place next May 2-4 in Angola, Angop learnt from a press note released by the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

According to the document, in light of the presidency organ, under Angola, will be also held the meetings of the SADC General Army Staffs and police commanders.

The ministerial troika of the organ, to happen here, is a legislative meeting of the political, defence and security organs of cooperation that has as objective to analyse issues relating to SADC Heads of State and Government Summit.

At the meeting will be tackled the current situation in DR Congo, post-electoral conflict in Lesotho and the current crisis in Zimbabwe, among other matters of political, defence and security interest of the regional bloc.

The gathering of the organ in the ministerial level will be chaired by the Angolan Foreign Affairs Minister, João Miranda.

The meeting will be attended by Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defence and Home, General Staffs of the Army, Police commanders and the directors of State security of Angola, Swaziland and Tanzania.
