The Government has committed itself to round table talks with nurses a day after they threatened to go on strike.
Medical Services minister, Prof Anyang' Nyong'o, said there was no way the Government could wish away the nurses' grievances because they were genuine and pertinent.
"We shall sit with the nurses because we are aware that there is a problem that must be addressed to find an amicable solution and to enhance service delivery," he said.
Nyong'o also said there were plans to employ more nurses to cut on the shortage that was impacting on service delivery at various Government health institutions.
"We need more nurses as we have been losing several through human resources export," he said.
Nyong'o said the Government must be ready to produce more nurses for both the local and international markets to ensure continuity in service provision.
He said there was high demand for nurses in Germany and Italy.
Meanwhile, Nyong'o wants the Police Commissioner, Maj General Mohammed Ali, to institute a probe on the alleged activities of an officer in charge of a police station in Uasin Gishu District during post-election violence.
Nyong'o wants Ali to investigate former Langas OCS, a Mr Ngugi, over alleged shooting and killing in the area.
The minister claimed two people were shot dead by the officer and a third one was admitted to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital with a bullet lodged in his spine.

"This is a heinous act and the officer must be investigated and charged in court with murder," he said.
