Buea — The long-awaited final judgment concerning an appeal by business magnate, Peter Njumtor Ngufor against Fon Doh Gah Gwanyin of Balikumbat following the destruction of Ngufor's houses during the Bafanji-Balikumbat war a decade ago has been passed in favour of Ngufor.

The Supreme Court handed down the judgment on Thursday April 24 in Yaounde by the President of Supreme Court Dipanda Mouelle. It would be recalled that some years back, a piece of land on the boundary between Balikumbat and Bafanji villages sparked off a prolonged land feud which led to extensive destruction of crops and more than 100 houses set ablaze in Bafanji.

Unable to settle the matter traditionally and administratively, a business magnate of Bafanji village, Mr. Ngufor, who considered himself the hardest hit, dragged Fon Doh of Balikumbat to Court in Bamenda.

Justice Richard Wanki, of the Bamenda High Court, at the time, delivered a judgment in favour of Peter Ngufor. Not satisfied, Fon Doh appealed against the judgment. Since the Supreme Court's decision is final, Fon Doh is, therefore, expected to cough out FCFA 126 million.

Speaking to The Post, on Saturday, April 26, in Bamenda, a beaming Ngufor said he was satisfied and grateful that, at last, the matter has followed a logical end giving credence to the judiciary.
