FIFA has recognised a Normalisation Committee set up by Senegalese government to bring the sport back to the right track.

The banker Amadou Diagna Diaye has been confirmed on Tuesday as the president of the Normalisation Committee, an appointment approved by FIFA, the Confederation of African Football and the Senegalese government.

Saer Seck, president of Diambar Institute, a football academy, has been also confirmed as deputy president of the Normalisation Committee.

A delegation from Senegal, that included sports minister Bacar Dia, met with world governing body president Sepp Blatter in Zurich, Switzerland, to discuss the country's problems.

In a letter earlier in March, Blatter had urged the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) to not only establish the Normalisation Committee but also review its statutes - but neither of these conditions were met.

The Normalisation Committee was created after the resignation of the majority the FSF members, following the poor performance of the Terang a Lions in the Cup of African Nations in Ghana, earlier this year.

Because of this crisis, the national league has not started yet.
