Luanda — Angola will participate at the Fifth Colloquy on African Hard Labour - 120 years of its Abolition, to be held next November 03-05 in Brazil, ANGOP learnt from a source with the Ministry of Culture.
According to a communiqué, the country will be represented at the event by historian Simão Soiundoula, director of the National Museum of Slavery and member of the National Slaves Route Commission.
In 2008, the abolition of slavery in Brazil completes 120 years. This was the last country in America to extinct slavery, giving proof of importance of this institution in former Portuguese colonies.
