Ondjiva — South Cunene province's deputy governor for the economic and social sector, Jerónimo Haleingue carried out on Wednesday, here, the handing over of the aquatic rescue material to the local delegation of the Home Affairs Ministry.
According to the official, the equipment made up of three boats, suits, life-buoys, diving kits, among others items to assist the population in terms of saving.
He stated that the acquisition of the material is part of the efforts of the provincial government to solve the results of the floods affecting the province since the first fortnight of February.
The source added that, with the handing over of these means, teams of youths trained to be part of the division of identification, tactical use of boats, will perform with efficacy and efficiency their noble mission of saving human lives.
The acting provincial delegate of the Home Ministry, Carlos Corteis thanked for government's gesture that will enable a greater shifting of staff in the work of saving the population affected by disasters.
Members of the Civil Protection Commission, government officials, officers of the National Police, of the Armed Forces and of the Fire-fighters Department, among others, attended the handing over ceremony.
