Eritrea: Preparations in Full Swing to Colorfully Celebrate 17th Anniversary of Independence Day

Asmara — Preparations are in full swing to colorfully celebrate the 17th Anniversary of Independence Day, according to Mr. Gideon Fisehaye, head of the office of the Holidays Coordinating Committee.

Accordingly, dramas in different languages, songs, carnival, general knowledge contest in Hadas Eritra newspaper, sports competitions, folkdance and the like would be staged on the occasion.

Mr. Gideon indicated that a workshop has been conducted in the administrative regions to see to it that the carnival properly reflects the nation's culture and norms, and that this would be highlighted in the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations. He called on all nationals to make due contribution towards celebrating the historic day in a spirit of patriotism and enthusiasm.

Moreover, a painting competition at the national level featuring the value of independence, in which students of all elementary schools would take part, would be presented.
