Town and Country Securities, a stockbrokerage firm whose trading licence was recently reinstated by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), is expected to return to the stock exchange under a new name- Chartered Capital Limited.

A Kenya Gazette notice dated April 25 that listed all CMA licensees for 2008 included Chartered Capital Ltd (CCL) as one of the stockbrokers, besides 84 other licensees in various categories.

The stockbroker is, however, still waiting to get an admission to the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE), despite having acquired CMA's approval to trade as a stockbroker.

NSE chief executive Chris Mwebesa has, in the meantime, asked stockbrokers to lodge any claims against Town and Country, before the firm can be re-admitted to the NSE. The letter also confirms change of the stockbroker's name to CCL.

"We have received an application for the re-admission of Town and Country Securities," reads the letter by Mr Mwebesa in part.
