South Nyanza Sugar Company will install the latest packaging machines to help increase production of branded sugar.

The firm's CEO, Mr Paul Odola, said the move is part of the company's strategies to keep pace with the emerging market demands. He revealed that a survey carried out earlier, had indicated that a majority of customers prefer branded sugar as opposed to that packed in bulk.

Addressing reporters in his office on Friday, Mr Odola said that installation of the new machines has been programmed to coincide with the company's annual maintenance period.

The CEO announced that the first batch of the new packages would be rolled out by end of the month.

"We plan to roll out the first batch by end of May since the various components of the machines have already been airlifted from South Africa awaiting transportation to the company," he said.

Mr Odola also revealed plans by the company to open up regional offices in major towns so as to bring services and its products closer to the business community.

In a related development, the firm's public relations manager, Mr Wilson Okongo, disclosed that the company has installed a 15 KVA generator to help tackle frequent power outages in the area.

This, he said, will ensure continuous power supply to the firm.
