Congo-Kinshasa: Monuc Responds to Allegations That Peacekeepers Supplied Weapons to ADF/Nalu

Monuc Press Release

2 May 2008

press release

Kinshasa — The United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) has taken note of recent statements in the media accusing its Peacekeepers of supplying weapons to the Allied Democratic Forces/National Army for the Liberation of Uganda (ADF/NALU), a small rebel group based in north-eastern DRC.

These allegations have never been conveyed to the Mission by the Ugandan authorities.

Although MONUC has no indication that such activity ever took place, it will request, as is the norm in cases of such allegations, that an independent investigation be conducted as rapidly as possible.
