Sierra Leone: NOC Set Record Straight Over SLAA Presidency

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) Thursday justify their decision in recognizing the Sierra Leone Athletics Association (SLAA) Emric Cole executive than the former president, Andre T Hope.

Addressing members of the press, NOC president, Henry Moore stated that the decision came after a voting was held in getting a final decision.

"In solving the SLAA problem, we appointed a three man commission that was recognized by the two parties.

This commission gathers findings from both parties and after three weeks made their recommendation," Moore said.

He further noted that it was base on this findings NOC decided to hold an election in which 10 sporting discipline presidents who are members of NOC voted.

According to the NOC president, Andre Hope has no vote, while his counterpart, Emric Cole got 6 votes and four undecided vote.

Vice president of NOC, Patrick Coker said they decided to intervene in solving the SLAA crisis after an unsuccessful attempt by the Minister of Education Youths and Sports, Minkailu Bah.

Moore further revealed that later today NOC will inform the Sports Ministry, International Athletic Association Federation (IAAF), the director of Sports and both parties of their decision.

The three man committee which was appointed include: Prince Swallay, president of Western Area athletics Association, Pamela Williams, president of Women and Sports, and Dr. Fadlu Deen president of swimming.
