Benguela
The inspectors of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) expressed this Sunday satisfaction at the works that the Angolan government is carrying out in the construction of stadiums and hotels for matches of the African Nations Cup (CAN) of 2010, in the southern Benguela province.
The CAF team, led by its vice president Molefi Oliphant, expressed such trust after visiting the works underway in the new stadium of Benguela, with the capacity for 35,000 spectators, and after explanations that it received for local government officials, as well as the Chinese promise to hand over the undertaking until late November 2009.
Besides the optimism and trust of the ongoing work, the CAF entities recommended the government and every agent involved in the organisation of CAN so as to speed up the works of rehabilitating the five stadiums, which shall serve for training by the participant teams, as well as the hotels that will accommodate the delegations.
In Molefi Oliphant's view, the stadiums for training are some of the conditions that might contribute for the success of CAN, due to this, its rehabilitation should not be underestimated.

On his turn, the deputy governor of Benguela, João Evangelista Basílio guaranteed that the stadiums of União da Catumbela, Buraco (Académica do Lobito), São Filipe, Arregaça and of Municipal, all these located in Benguela province, shall be ready by July 2009.
