Luanda — The government of Angola formalised the regulations to authorise the practice of aquaculture in an extensive production system, including mariculture and continental aquaculture in its most distinct activities.
According to the executive decree 43/08 of the Fisheries Ministry, included in the State Gazette number 53, 1st Series, sent to ANGOP this Sunday, the regulations also concern the controlling and granting of licenses to every singular or collective people who wish to practice this activity in the national territory.
The system of aquaculture production is characterised by the cultivation in small water-wells carried out by families or singular companies for their own use, due to the low density of cultivation, as well as its own practice in artificial lakes, and built in a regular manner. As conditions imposed to the aquaculture practice in an extensive production system, the document refers that the practicing of this activity should not exceed to an area superior or equal to 300m2. This activity might also obey the principle of efficiency, guaranteeing the economic effectiveness in accordance to the protection and the rational use of natural fisheries resources and biodiversity, protecting the environment and the natural relief.
The Fishery Ministry will publish a list of the biological and vegetal species that might be created in the extensive production system.
