Research findings indicate that up to 80 per cent of them were illiterate and unaware of their social economic rights.

The four-year project, called Women Empowerment in Zanzibar (Weza), will be implemented by Care Tanzania and the Tanzania Media Women's Association (Tamwa) with financial assistance from the European Union (EU) and Care Austria.
