Home grown Super Eagles will begin the campaign for glory in the maiden African Cup of Nations Championship today in Calabar against Burkina Faso.

The coach Emordi tutored side has been in Calabar preparing for the clash for a week now and would therefore be in mental and physical shape to whack their opponents.

Coach of the team, Okey Emordi has been full of confidence that his charges have both the character and experience to pick the maximum points as well as play qualitative soccer.

He said some of the players have been around for while and have acquired even continental experience enough to be in the mental shape to play to instructions.

"My players will approach the match with all the experience and composure that they have mustered over the years"

The home-based Eagles will parade among others Mutiu Adegoke, goalkeepers John Gaadi and Olufemi Thomas, Blessing Okardi, Efe Ambrose, Chibuzor Okonkwo,Timothy Anjembe,Yinka Adedeji and Enyimba duo Okechukwu Odita and Chidozie Johnson who should bring their continental club experience to bear.

Adegoke, the team's skipper, was in the Enyimba team that won the CAF Champions League in 2004 and played professionally in the Ivory Coast before returning home last year.

Meanwhile, the skipper has boasted that Burkina Faso will fall today when the Egles take on the visitors.

Though he was unhappy about the late arrival of some of his colleagues, Adeyinka boasted that the team has what it takes to beat Burkina Faso.

"I think our coming late to camp may really affect our performance as regards blending But as we are experienced players, I hope we will cope and pull our selves together to make Nigerians happy by winning well on Sunday.

"I played for my team, 3SC in Owerri after which I joined the team in camp in Calabar and that was why I came late to camp which I already informed my coach. All the same we have experienced players in this team that can always rise to the occasion when the situation is difficult," he assured.

He, however, revealed that he wasn't surprised by his inclusion in the team. "I think I have tried my best for the country since playing for the U-20 national team and the Dream Team IV. With all modesty, I think I deserve this invitation to play for the home based Eagles," he summed up.
