Nairobi — Cattle rustlers shot dead a five-year-old child and injured another when they raided a farm owned by President Kibaki's relative in Laikipia West District.

The three men, one of them armed with an AK-47 rifle, struck at the farm owned by a cousin of the President, Mr George Mwai, at 8pm on Saturday. They intended to steal livestock but ended up shooting the workers' children. The child who escaped with gunshot wounds was admitted to the Nyahururu District Hospital Police said that after the raiders gained entry into the farm, they found workers' children warming themselves at an open fire.
