Chairman of CFAO Group, Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas has commended the Cathedral Church of Christ, Lagos, for playing a pivotal role in the development of the state and nation at large.

Okoya-Thomas, who was speaking at the public presentation of a book titled, "A Venture of Faith"- The history of the Church, said the role of the Church cannot be over-emphasised, given the socio-political status of the country.

Speaking against the backdrop of the historical milestone recorded by the church, Okoya-Thomas also lauded the author, Ambassador Oladapo Fafowora for his bravery in putting together such book on the Oldest Cathedral in Nigeria within the shortest period. According to him, the book presentation was also an occasion for fund raising of N1 billion endowment funds.

He noted that the fund which will be generated from the book presentation will be directed towards social services.

"We should be able to positively affect the less privilege and make lives liveable for them", he affirmed.

While reviewing the book, Prof. Akinjide Osuntokun of the Department of History and International Relations of the Redeemer's University described it as a document filled with details, adding that the book is a representation of the rich and peculiar history of the Cathedral.

According to Osuntokun, the study is in three parts, divided into ten chapters. The first part deals with the earliest Christ church at Faji, and its movement to the Marina in 1869, while the second and third parts focus on the developments in the church until 1926 and the new Cathedral system.

He reiterated that the Chapters x-ray the different personalities and bodies that have made immense contributions over the years to the rich history, distinct identity and legacy of the Christ Church .

In his remarks, Fafowora said the book was presented to the public to meet the need among its parishes for a good and comprehensive history of the church than is now available.
