Peace is not in sight in the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State as the meeting called to that effect ended in stalemate with elder statesman and Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark storming out of the meeting.
National Chairman of the party, Chief Vincent Ogbulafor, had last week summoned the meeting to resolve the lingering crisis that had factionalised the party with some loyal to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and another faction loyal former Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Clark.
The PDP chairman had directed that both factions attend the reconciliation meeting with 15 members each.
At the end of the meeting, which took place at the national secretariat of the party, the National Working Committee (NWC) urged the Clark's faction to accept Mr. Peter Nwaoboshi, the governor's nominee, as the state chairman of the party.

With this decision, it was gathered that Clark and his team accused the PDP chairman of taking sides and walked out of the meeting.
Clark, after storming out of the meeting, addressed a press conference where his group rejected the directive of the PDP and pledged to petition President Umaru Yar'Adua, who is the leader of the party and chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
Clark, who quoted from a report of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the state congresses of the party, said since Nwaoboshi was not validly elected, party members would resist attempts to foist him on them.
