The management of Southwest Development Authority, SOWEDA, headed by Dr. Andrew Eneme Ngome, could not have chosen any other appropriate time, other than the 120th edition of the International Labour Day, to recognise the enormous contributions and efforts of his collaborators.
Thursday, May 1 at the Manga Williams Avenue in Limbe, 21 staff of SOWEDA were decorated with Labour Medals of Honour.Kange Elinge, Director of General Affairs, SOWEDA, explained the motivation for this gesture:
"It is the long way SOWEDA has gone, since it came into existence in 1987 thanks to a presidential decree. This is the first time we are having our staff decorated. We are an institution of the government of Cameroon with the responsibility to supervise some major projects financed by the African Development Bank, ADB, the Arab Bank of Economic Development of Africa and the government of Cameroon."
To those decorated, Kange re-echoed these words; Un Seul Mot! Continuez! And to those who have just come into SOWEDA, he had the encouragement of management to them.
"They should continue to work hard, have a good output so that after ten years, they should be able to join their colleagues on the award podium. With our collective efforts, we'll change things for the better," he mentioned.
He saw with optimism the future of SOWEDA. "It's a very bright future! Now, we are supervising two projects; Rumpi Area Participatory Development Project and the Livestock and Fishery Development Project. We have studied two projects, which are already tabled at the level of government. These are the Bakassi Project and a project for the Akwaya region. We are looking forward to funding from the government of Cameroon."

Mrs. Victoria Takangang has put in 16 years in SOWEDA as the Secretary to the General Manager. With her Bronze and Silver medals, she asserts that SOWEDA is the place to be and more people wish to be part of the success story today.
Charles Ngossong Nkem is Cashier and Account Assistant in SOWEDA. He has been there for 2 years but had earlier spent 17 years elsewhere working. Thanks to the collective bargaining agreement, which states that your current employer takes into consideration your other working years elsewhere, Nkem has been decorated with the Bronze and Silver medals.
He defines SOWEDA as an instrument of development, having a lot to offer the population.
