Habero

As part of ongoing endeavors to achieve food security, effective soil and water conservation activities have been carried out in the Habero sub-zone, according to Mr. Nasir Saleh, head of the Ministry of Agriculture branch office in the sub-zone.

So far, about 63,000 meter-long embankments have been constructed and over 17 km-long terracing put in place through a campaign in which the inhabitants of Habero-Tsaeda, Afa'yun, Mezret and Habero-Tselam administrative areas took active participation.

Similar development activities, especially soil and water conservation would also be stepped up in the future, Mr. Nasir added.

Moreover, fruit and vegetable farming over 50 hectares in the sub-zone is yielding encouraging output and harvesting in this sphere of activity would make due contribution in stabilizing the market of Aretai.
