Public Service PS Titus Ndambuki Monday dismissed claims that the Government is broke following delay in paying civil servants' salaries.

Mr Ndambuki said that the Government had enough money to pay salaries and added that some of the employees could not have been paid due to the high number of staff.

Salaries released

He said salaries had been released, adding, President Kibaki's statement during Labour Day celebrations to the effect that minimum wages could not be increased due to a lack of funds had nothing to do with the budgeted Government expenditure.

The Union of Kenya Civil Servants secretary-general Tom Odege had joined calls by teachers asking the Government to pay their members their April salaries.
