Windhoek — MTC Namibia Premiership rookies Mighty Gunners slightly eased their relegation worries when the men in uniform held title chasing Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) to a goalless draw at the Mokati Stadium in Otjiwarongo on Saturday.
The result moved Dawid Snewe's young brigade five points clear from the relegation zone, whilst SKW failed to capitalize on Oshikandela Ramblers' inactivity last weekend as the draw leaves them exactly in the same spot - one point adrift of the log leaders Ramblers (29), who boast a game in hand over their cross-town rivals.
Elsewhere, APS Blue Waters sank deeper into the relegation zone after the coastal side suffered a narrow 1-Nil defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Oshakati City in an ill-tempered match at the Kuisebmond Stadium in the first of a double header, at Walvis Bay last Saturday.
Fedics United all but kissed goodbye to top-flight football after the Southerners failed to win for the umpteenth time - going down by two goals without a reply against a rejuvenated KM Eleven Arrows at the Kuisebmond Stadium.
The league rookies are stuck in the basement of the MTC Namibia Premiership log standings with a paltry six points from a possible 48.
It will certainly take a Herculean act to escape the dreaded relegation axe that has been hovering over them since their much-hyped arrival in the domestic elite league at the beginning of the season.
Arrows have now moved into joint third place with Orlando Pirates with 26 points each - two points ahead of defending champions Civics, but the Buccaneers boast a superior goal average against their coastal rivals.
