Luanda

The speaker of the National Assembly, Roberto de Almeida, Tuesday here granted audience to the ambassador of the Czech Republic to Angola, Vladimir Války, with whom he discussed general matters of bilateral cooperation.

Speaking to Angop, at the end of the meeting, the European country's diplomat said that it was a courtesy visit, where he seized the occasion to analyse with the speaker of National Assembly the two states' cooperation relations.

Vladimir Války, the first ambassador of Czech Republic to Angola, started his diplomatic mission in late 2007, despite the opening of the European nation's embassy in 2002, after the end of Angolan armed conflict.

The Czech Republic was founded 15 years ago, following the peaceful split, in 1993, of the former Czech-Slovakia into two independent countries, namely Czech and Slovakia, at the end of a unification that dated back to 1918.

Since the opening of its diplomatic mission in the Southern African country, the European country outlined as priority in its cooperation policy with Angola the sectors of education, economy, trade, oil industry, environment and civil engineering.

The provinces of Bié and Moxico have been pointed out as the priorities for development projects.
