A governmental delegation, led by Foreign minister João Bernardo Miranda, left Luanda on Tuesday to participate at an extraordinary meeting of the African Union (AU) Foreign Affairs Committee, on May 06-07, in Arusha, Tanzania.
According to the head of African Division of Angolan Foreign Ministry, Mário Félix, who was speaking to Angop, the meeting aims at analysing the auditing report on the functioning of the African Union Commission.
"During the last summit, held in February this year, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the member countries decided to set up an auditing commission, whose observations and recommendations should be presented at this extraordinary meeting of the African Union Cabinet", he said.
The diplomat added that the participants have consensually decided that only after the referred assessment it could be possible the strengthening of powers and capacities of the AU Commission, an organ that will also analyse the current situation in Zimbabwe and other problems that affect the continent.

The Foreign minister's delegation also comprises his adviser, ambassador, Nelson Cosme, and the head of the minister's office.
However, the Angolan minister and his delegation will, before travelling to Tanzania, work in Zimbabwe and Zambia. There, they will join the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Troika team that met at the weekend in Luanda, to assess the political situation in that country.
In Zimbabwe, the members of SADC Troika will meet with the outgoing president, Robert Mugabe, the head of the country's Election Commission, as well as the leader of main opposition party (MDC) Morgan Tsvangirai.
