THE MMD has expelled suspended National Executive Committee (NEC) member, Christine Moonga from the party.
The party has also dissolved the Copperbelt provincial executive committee with immediate effect, while an interim one would be announced before Friday this week.
MMD chairman for information and publicity, Benny Tetamashimba said the NEC, which met yesterday at State House decided to expel Ms Moonga from the party as she had breached the party constitution.
"The committee adopted and decided to expel her (Ms Moonga) from the party with immediate effect in line with the powers of the MMD constitution that she breached at regulation 7 (h) of 1993," he said in a statement.
Mr Tetamashimba said the expulsion details were contained in the letter written to her by the national secretary, Katele Kalumba.
Ms Moonga recently accused President Mwanawasa of practising tribalism by not firing Finance and National Planning Deputy Minister, Jonas Shakafuswa after he allegedly issued disparaging remarks against women while at the Parliament bar before the House adjourned.
On dissolving the Copperbelt provincial executive committee, Mr Tetamashimba when contacted said the committee was dissolved because of not perfomimg well.
In the matter involving suspended Copperbelt Province MMD chairman, Terence Findley, Mr Tetamashimba said the NEC advised the disciplinary committee chaired by party national chairman Michael Mabenga to conclude the case together with the other one involving Mr Shakafuswa.
And Mr Tetamashimba said the NEC could not table the matter involving suspended Lusaka Province MMD chairman Geoffrey Chumbwe because he had not yet responded to the charge.
He said the matter would be considered after Mr Chumbwe wrote to NEC responding to the charge.
Meanwhile, the NEC has congratulated the new Eastern Province MMD chairman Kennedy Zulu and his committee for being elected into office.
Mr Tetamashimba said the party would in the next two weeks announce the parliamentary candidate for the Milanzi by election slated for June 26 after the relevant committees had conducted the interviews.

The by election follows the death of Chosani Njobvu from UNIP who died in March this year, in Slovenia where he had gone to attend the African, Caribbean and Pacific European Union (ACP-EU) joint parliamentary assembly.
