Luanda — The VI Conference of National Authorising Officers of the African Portuguese Speaking Community (PALOP) and East Timor, Tuesday in Luanda approved the document guiding the cooperation with the European Commission for the 2008/2013 period.
According to the national authorising officer of the European Development Fund (EDF) for Angola, Ana Dias Lourenço, the plan valid for five years, set the principles on the cooperation within the framework of the 10th EDF.
Ana Dias Lourenço, who is also Angolan Planning minister was speaking at the closing of the meeting.
She said the plan focuses on projects awaiting execution, the indicative amounts and respective national authorising officers.
According to her, under this relationship, the common projects will be funded through contributions from national indicative programmes of the attending countries.
The VI conference of national authorising officers analysed the accomplishment of the decisions and recommendations from the meeting held in 2007, in Lisbon (Portugal), the programming of the cooperation within the framework of the 10th EDF in the 2008/2013 period, and evaluated the situation of projects underway within the framework of the 9th EDF.
The previous meeting had recommended the conduction of a study, meant for the identification of areas of intervention that include good governance which, in line with the understanding reached, shall constitute the main area of cooperation among the PALOP, East Timor/EC for the 10th EDF.
Established in 1958 with the purpose to implement the dispositions of the Rome Treaty, the EDF is funded by the member countries and is meant for a financial assistance to the Africa Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries with which the European Union has relations within the framework of the Lome Convention.
