GROOTFONTEIN'S nurses' home has, once again, been plunged into darkness and left powerless.

It is without electricity and its occupants are threatening to go on strike if the issue is not resolved.

The nurses and doctors staying there had to go without electricity for the whole long weekend and there was still no power yesterday.

The Namibian's attempts to get official comment failed, as senior officials from the Ministry of Health who deal with the payment of electricity bills have been out of office since the start of the long weekend.

Frustrated residents of the nurses' home complain that they haven't had a hot bath or a cooked meal since last week.

Power outages have become a regular occurrence there since the Ministry decided to pay for services from the regional office at Otjiwarongo instead of dealing with the accounts at Grootfontein.
