Angola's Science and Technology minister, Joao Baptista Ngandagina, on Tuesday said his department, in co-ordination with the UN, is elaborating a programme named "Policy of Science and technology and Innovations in Angola" (PCTI) to sustain the country's social, economic and cultural development strategy.
He said so while addressing a speech at the closing ceremony of a round table on the "Diagnosis of Science and Technology in Angola", adding that PCTI will contribute and develop the understanding of the country's challenges in the reconstruction process of the economy and increase the capacity to participate in the global market.
According to the minister, this programme has already started through a commission made up by Angolan experts and will enable the outlining of a national strategy for the application of science, acquisition of technologies and promotion of innovation in the country.
Scientific research, technological development and innovation should be based on solid knowledge and follow the national development plan to contribute to the fight against poverty and famine, as well as reach the goals of the regional economic integration, thus eradicating social exclusion.

The meeting was attended by foreign and national experts, with highlight to the deputy minister of Science and technology, Pedro Teta.
