Southern Africa: SADC Police Chiefs Meeting Postponed for Saturday

7 May 2008

Luanda — The meeting of the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Council Organisation (Sarpcco), initially scheduled for this Wednesday, here, was postponed for Saturday.

According to the chief of Angola National Police for Public Order, Paulo de Almeida, stated that the postponement is due to late arrival of some delegates to the session.

Among those expected are the chiefs of South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Botswana and Mauritius Police.

For this Wednesday, the experts will analyse every document to be submitted to the Southern Africa Police Chiefs.

Commissioner Paulo de Almeida informed that exchange of information to fight border crime on the region has been having especial attention in the level of SADC police chiefs.

The extraordinary event will also analyse, among others, the memorandum of understanding on creation of a standby brigade for Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).
