A freak storm battered parts of Nyanza Province, leaving a massive trail of destruction.

The storm damaged buildings, schools and disrupted electricity supply in Kisumu and outlying areas. It also uprooted trees and blew away roofs. In Kisumu, it turned the roads turned into puddles of water on Tuesday night.

In Migori, Rachuonyo, Nyando, Suba, Rongo, Homa Bay, Bondo, Rarieda, and Siaya districts were also affected by the downpour.

Many towns went without electricity and telephone after strong winds damaged supply lines.

Police, however, said that no deaths or serious injuries had been reported.
