Former two-wheel-drive rally contender Richard Onyoni and Himanshu Shah will make a comeback when the KCB Simba Savings Rally goes to Embu on Saturday and Sunday.

Shah returns to rallying two years since taking part in the KCB Personal Loan Rally in Nakuru with Julius Ngigi.

"It really should be a good feeling as I just can't wait to shake off the rust," Himanshu said in an interview. He also used to race with Dharshan Shah.

Himanshu started rallying in the 1998 in a Datsun 1200 pickup. His personal best came when he emerged fifth overall in the Rally Sports Club (RSC) KCB Simba Savings Rally in 2005.

Lack of sponsorship saw him shy away. His car is being prepared by Simon Sharpe at the Rocca & Sharpe Workshop in Nairobi. He will be navigated by Mahesh Saleh in a 2000cc version 4 Impreza.

Himanshu says he wants to use the weekend action to prepare for the KCB Safari Rally next month.

Onyoni, on the other hand is, making his debut into top flight KCB KNRC series after being a contender in the 2WD series in 2005 and 2006.

"My plans to enter the KNRC Embu Rally are at an advanced stage and I will be making my long awaited comeback into rallying, this time upgrading to the rigorous KNRC in a Group N vehicle," said Onyoni.

"Securing sponsorship has been an uphill task since 2007. However, well-wishers and friends have pooled together to avail me the assistance required to campaign."

Onyoni will drive the Albatros Auto Agency Ltd-sponsored Subaru Impreza. He purchased the Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA rally car from Meschelle Van-Tongeren in 2007.

The car is being prepared at Baldev Chager's BHP Performance Workshop.
