FC Abuja requires support to succeed in the Premier League next season after securing an elevation to the division FCT, FA Chairman, Emmanuel Attah has said.
Emmanuel Attah said at a ceremony held at the Old Parade Ground to celebrate the club's promotion that "this is the beginning and not the end of it all."
FC Abuja secured promotion by finishing second, behind Kaduna United in Group A of the National League Division One which ended at the weekend.
"We have to embark on an aggressive mobilisation of Abuja residents, for them to rally behind the club when they start campaigning in the Premier League next season.
We will need to put on ground a strong supporters' base for the club in view of Abuja's uniqueness as a city and as a growing sports community," he told NAN.
Attah said the association would be involved in mobilising support for the club to survive the rigours of the Premier League.
"We at the FA will work together with the club to ensure full house at their matches and give both moral and technical support at all times.
This is because we need to jealously guard this baby, the first time in the history of Abuja when we are having a club at the country's topmost football level," he said.
FC Abuja's Team Manager, Olotu Josiah, said the club was grateful to the FA in the Territory for the support it received on the way to securing the promotion ticket.
"Our achievement was a collective effort, not based on our efforts alone" he observed.
"We are grateful to the FA and its chairman, and we promise to live up to expectations next season in the Premier League," he said.
NAN reports that the club, owned by the EFCC came into being about three seasons ago after procuring the pro-league slot of Buffalo FC of Kano.
