Kampala — Manchester United academy coach John Shields and the club's skills development coach Rene Meulensteen will visit Proline Academy in September.

This was revealed by the Proline director Mujib Kasule at a welcome reception held for the academy side at Ballet Café in Nakasero yesterday. "We have made links with Manchester United FC and Portsmouth. In September, Shields and Meulensteen will be visiting the academy to assess the progress of the boys," Kasule said. Kasule, flanked by businessman Habib Kagimu, who sponsored the academy tour, added that he was impressed with the level of discipline exhibited by the Proline charges, who won three games and drew one during the two-week tour.

Next month Rio Ferdinand's brother Anton, of West Ham United and Aston Villa's Nigel Reo Coker, will be in Uganda to monitor the academy players. The soccer academy has asked government for land to build a complex that will house 500 players.
