The Kamuli district local government has given 1,400 iron sheets to over 20 primary schools for roofing buildings damaged by storms in the past two years, reports Doreen Musingo.

Twelve of the schools were destroyed while eight had their asbestos roofs blown off. The LC5 chairman, Steven Mubiru, on Monday handed over the iron sheets to the head teachers at the district headquarters. He said the iron sheets were donated by Actionaid Uganda to improve education.

The district education officer, Ibrahim Kanakulya, pointed out that some schools were given irons sheets last year but had not yet roofed the buildings.
