Angola's Foreign minister Joao Miranda on Wednesday arrived in Pretoria, South Africa, from Zambia, at the head of a ministerial troika of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), ANGOP learned.

This initiative is part of the efforts by the chairperson of the organ, the Angolan Head of State, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, to learn of the SADC needs and assist with the holding of the second round of presidential election in Zimbabwe.

On Tuesday, Joao Miranda met Zimbabwe's outgoing president, Robert Mugabe, and members of the local electoral commission, with whom he assessed the situation in that country and the process for marshalling of resources to aid the poll.

In Lusaka (Zambia), the Angolan top diplomat was received in audience by president Levy Mwanawasa to whom he transmitted a message from the Angolan head of State relating to the recommendations that came from the troika's meeting on the situation in Zimbabwe.

The meeting took place on May 04-05 this year.

On Thursday, Joao Miranda is to meet with South Africa's president, Thabo Mbeki, since the latter is the mediator to the Zimbabwean process.

Joao Miranda that is to return home on Thursday is leading a team that comprises Tanzania's Defence deputy minister and Swaziland's Foreign minister, among other officials.
