Windhoek — THE Namibian Police have asked people to ignore cellphone text messages informing them that they have won a RAV-4 car.
Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Angula Amulungu said yesterday that the Police had received information indicating that the messages originated in Kenya, and could be a hoax.
"We urge whoever receives such SMSes to treat it as a hoax and not to attempt to communicate his or her details, because that may compromise his or her identity to fraudulent individuals," Amulungu said.
He requested anyone who has been conned in this way to contact the Police.
