The Running Mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has indicated his preparedness to serve the people of Ghana when the tables turn in favour of his party in the upcoming elections.
Having been selected as the Running Mate of the party's Flagbearer, John Mahama expressed his optimism that his ticket with Professor John Evans Atta Mills would see the NDC through to victory.
He has thus urged Ghanaians to keep faith with him and the NDC to lift the country from its present state of stagnation.
John Mahama, who doubles as Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi constituency made this statement at his maiden outdooring at the National Theatre in Accra yesterday.
On his vision for the country, John promised not to only protect the rights of each and every Ghanaian but help build a better Ghana for all. He reiterated the NDC's commitment to ensure a campaign devoid of insults.
According to him, what the party would do is to explain its policies to the people and convince them to vote for the NDC in the 2008 general elections.
When given the opportunity to assume the reigns of this country, the Running Mate noted that the NDC would endeavour to transform the country into a comfort zone, stressing "it is time for the comfort of leadership to be subordinated to the interest of the majority."
The Bole-Bamboi MP took the opportunity to appeal to his brothers and sisters in Bawku, to give peace a chance by putting an end to the violence and killing. This, he said was because it would deepen the woes of Bawku residents and retard the development of the area.
He thus stressed the need for residents of the area to burry their individual differences in order for development to come to the area. He further stated that when the NDC assumes the reigns of government as envisaged, it would find a lasting solution to the Bawku crisis.
"We will go to the bottom of the conflict and find a lasting solution to them", he assured.
He ridiculed the statement for the need to battle the election on the basis of comparison, as made by the Flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana
Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the launch of his campaign team.
For him, what Nana Addo did was nothing but a recipe for mediocrity, since according to him; such assessments depend on various factors.
According to him, a new NDC government would give credit where it is due to the NPP, in order build on it.
John Mahama also used the opportunity to pay glowing tribute to the Founder of the NDC, former President Jerry John Rawlings and all other members of the party through whose sweat and toil has seen the party through the test of time.

Earlier, Prof. Mills said the NDC would invest in people, job creation, expand infrastructure and run a "caring and transparent government."
He noted that the NDC will not allow Ghana to be made a "wholly owned subsidiary for drug barons," whilst saving Ghanaians from crime and armed robbery. For him, Ghana as a country has never lacked in plans but rather the men to implement these plans to make Ghana a better place.
"The NDC has the men to implement these plans to make Ghana a better place," he said.
