Ondjiva — Angola Savings and Credit Bank (BPC) on Wednesday in Ondjiva, southern Cunene Province, donated various goods to assist the victims of the heavy rains that fell in the city from February to April this year, in this region.
The donation, handed over by BPC regional south director, Pedro Alves, is made up by 25 tents, 100 mosquito-nets and equal number of beds.
According to Pedro Alves, the donation will be used to help the population living in shelter centres at Naipalala and Caculuvale districts.
On the other hand, Civil Protection Provincial Commission spokesperson, Nascimento Veyeleingue, thanked the BPC initiative, giving support to local government and injured population, by minimizing their difficulties.
The floods registered in Cunene Province affected more than 400,000 people, destroyed 70,000 thousand hectares of arable land, as well as caused the death of more than 100,000 heads of cattle.
