The North West Development Organisation NOWEDO, a new out fit for development has been launched with Benedict Fultang as the pioneer President General. Governor Abakar Ahamat chaired the launching event in Bamenda on World Press Freedom Day,May 3, 2008.

Journalists in the North West , promoters of the outfit told participants that the organisation comes to the scene as an improvement on previous efforts to take the province forward in Development. Governor Abakar Ahamat congratulated the Communicators for proposing a development platform for the province while Choves Loh, President of the North west Chapter of the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) said the new development outfit was inspired by the commitment of Pressmen and women to double as Reporters for development and agents of change. He regretted the absence of an active organisation to initiate and coordinate development in the province.

According to Choves Loh, NOWEDO is new and compelling, inclusive and with a non partisan approach to development. He acknowledged that unity around a successful outfit for development in the past has been difficult and said with journalists as watchdogs, NOWEDO may survive where others fumbled. The launching event involved village Development associations; civil society members, Mayors , Members of parliament etc.

Benedict Fultang, the pioneer President General retired in 2005 as the Country Director of the U.N World Food Programme in Congo Brazzaville, former Deputy General Manager of the defunct CENADEFOR, Deputy Director of Forestry in the then Ministry of Agriculture and current President of the Nijinikom development outfit, NADECO. Also elected into the executive were Mme Tima Grace and Dr Vabi Michael as Vice Presidents, Tangye Suh Nfor, Secretary General, Dingha Ignatius Bayin, Treasurer, Tatang Elizabeth, Financial Secretary,Nkwenti Simon, Organising Secretary, Choves Loh, Public Relations Officer,Dr Henry Njakoi, Project Cordinator.
