Angola: Ruling Party National Conference Tackles Electoral Strategy, Governing Programme

8 May 2008

Luanda — Angola's ruling MPLA party electoral strategy for the coming legislative election this year and the governing programme for the 2009/2012 period will be discussed at the organisation's National Conference set for Friday and Saturday in Luanda.

According to MPLA secretary for Information, Norberto dos Santos "Kwata Kanawa", the two documents (electoral manifesto and the governing programme) will receive contributions from 1,500 delegates from the 18 provinces of the country, in a bid to reach a consensus on what will be the future of the nation.

The meeting, going under the theme "MPLA-working to win", will be one of the crucial moments of the ruling party in the legislative election, scheduled for September 5-6 this year.

Kwata Kanawa recalled that preparations for the event started in March with the organisation of assemblies of the party's action committees, followed by provincial, district and communal conferences.
