Former World Indoor athletics 800m champion Wilfred Bungei will make a return to Doha City in Friday's Qatar Athletic Super Grand Prix after failing to travel to Valencia in March to defend his title due to an injury.

A host of stars will be in the Doha meeting for an early beginning of their build-up to the Beijing Olympics in August.

Bungei, 28, who aims to retire after the Beijing Olympics, will face a strong field that has some of the world's fastest runners in the two lap race.

In his absence in Valencia in March, All Africa Games 800m champion Abubaker Kaki Khamis of Sudan was crowned the new world indoor champion.

Alfred Kirwa Yego, who beat Bungei in the Osaka World Championships last year, will also be in Doha. There will also be Belal Mansour Ali of Bahrain, Dmitris Milkevics of Latvia and Abraham Chepkirwok of Uganda.

Women's world and Commonwealth 800m champion Janeth Jepkosgei will also be in action.

In the 3000m, there will be a Kenyan roll-call including former world 5000 metres champion, Eliud Kipchoge, Isaac Songok, Abraham Chebii and Augustine Choge.

World indoor champ at this distance Tariku Bekele will try to win against Kenya's Joseph Ebuya and Ugandan Moses Kipsiro.
