Tororo County MP Geoffrey Ekanya has vowed to continue opposing the proposed amendment to the Land Bill because it has ill intentions.

Speaking during a fundraising drive for Akworot Catholic Church on Sunday Mr Ekanya said the amendment if passed, will interfere with the customary law and that is intended by those in government to grab people's land.

He said the government should put the land issue aside and concentrate on other serious issues such as ending the war in northern Uganda and eradicating the rampant poverty levels.

"I would like you the people of Tororo County to stand firm and disassociate yourselves from this Land Bill," Mr Ekanya said.

Ekanya also vowed to fight the eminent eviction of the people of Osukuru Subcounty from the proposed 26 square kilometre land allocated to Nileforce Minerals Limited.
