President Yoweri Museveni has called for expertise in modern food processing and packaging. The President made the call yesterday at State House, during a meeting with a delegation of the UK-based Gatsby Charitable Foundation, led by Lord David Sainsbury.

He said Uganda has abundant food resources and indigenous knowledge needs to be used to process and package indigenous foods, such as millet, targeting the international market.

Mr Museveni proposed that Gatsby Charitable Foundation should add an element of heritage in Ugandan products in line with the production and packaging of food and herbs.

He said through the Prosperity for All programme, the government has encouraged small holders to concentrate in dairy farming, piggery, production of meat and coffee as well as fish farming.

Gatsby Charitable Foundation supports projects in science and agricultural development in East Africa.
